Human Rights Dilemmas- Equality in Reality
The aim of the project is to make all six grounds of discrimination from the perspective of human rights concrete. By problemizing discrimination and human rights, which will be done by using a couple of well chosen dilemmas in which different articles in the international conventions of human rights are being held against each other, the activities within the project will show that there is till a need for discussion about these issues and that there are no simple solutions.
The project contains two subprojects. One is to produce a interactive meeting point in which visitors can confront there own prejudice and opinions in these matters. The meeting point will be shown in three cities during the fall of 2008 and the target group for this meeting point is young people between 14-16 years old. The location of the meeting point will be city malls where lots of young people hang out.
The other subproject is to produce a study material and a teachers manual about these issues. The purpose of this is to provide teachers with a material that will make it easier for them to discuss these kind of questions with their pupils. This material will be based on the same dilemmas that we use in the interactive meeting point. With this material we hope that questions about discrimination and human rights will be discussed more often in schools. The target group for the material is pupils between 13-19 and their teachers.
